I have been living in Carrara since a week ago; this place is a city and commune in Tuscany, Italy, notable for the white or blue-grey marble quarried there. I thought it would be a perfect spot to develop a series that I had on my mind since time ago.
I think every crack, mark, fracture or scar represent something, there is history behind it, at least two elements interacted, had a relation. Like two people who had a relationship got something for the future a hammer hitting a wall leaves a hole, at the same time denting itself, all these interactions make up our world. Time passes and objects, buildings, elements fill their bodies with memories and experiences making them unique. Humidity, sun, rain, hits, pressures; everything counts.
The idea was to check walls over Carrara looking for cracks, marks, scars (red rectangle), after that I would paint them over the same surface where they were but increasing their scale, pointing to them, paying tribute to some unknown, tiny, unnoticed, meaningful old relationships.
